description (German): Das neue Aktionsprogramm der Europäischen Union heißt JUGEND. Es bündelt die bisherigen Programme "Jugend für Europa III" und "Europäischer Freiwilligendienst". Bis Ende 2006 werden außerschulische europäische Aktivitäten von Jugendlichen zwischen 15 bis 25 Jahren unterstützt sowie Weiterbildungsangebote u.a. für Jugendbetreuer/innen und andere Akteure in der internationalen Jugendarbeit. Das Programm sieht fünf Aktionen vor: Aktion 1: Jugend für Europa (Austausch von Jugendgruppen von einer bis drei Wochen, bi-, tri-, und multilateral, innerhalb der Programmländer und mit Drittstaaten);Aktion 2: Europäischer Freiwilligendienst (zwischen drei Wochen und einem Jahr, innerhalb der Programmländer und mit Drittstaaten);Aktion 3: Initiativen Jugendlicher (Initiativen und Nachfolgeaktivitäten ehemaliger Freiwilliger, Jugendinitiativen auf lokaler Ebene); Aktion 4: Gemeinsame Aktionen (Projekte und Maßnahmen in Verbindung mit anderen Gemeinschaftsinitiativen, besonders in den Bereichen allgemeine und berufliche Bildung);Aktion 5: Unterstützende Maßnahmen (Ausbildungen, Fortbildungen, Seminare, Partnertreffen, Projektbesuche, Netzwerkbildung, Praktika, Information von Jugendlichen, Studien).
description (English): The YOUTH programme is a new programme supported by the European Commission including the former Youth for Europe and European Voluntary Service programmes. The YOUTH programme addresses primarily young people between 15 and 25 years old who are legally resident in one of the 15 Member States of the Union, as well as other countries participating in the programme. The following groups can benefit from the YOUTH programme: groups of young people, who want to go on a youth exchange;young people who want to launch an initiative in their local community;young people who would like to get involved in voluntary service;ex-volunteers who are looking to build upon their experience;youth organisations; youth leaders;youth workers;project managers or organisers;local authorities;other organisations working in the third sector;and others who are in some way involved in the field of youth and informal education. The YOUTH programme promotes mobility, initiative, intercultural learning and solidarity among young people throughout Europe and beyond.
